A Yellow kaudi, also referred to as a cowrie, is a species of marine mollusk with a domed, glossy, and brightly patterned shell. It is most commonly found in the Indian Ocean, with specimens being collected from the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and other Indian islands. Cowrie shells are typically smooth and shiny, with egg-like shapes and a flat surface beneath the shell, which is punctuated by a long, narrow slit-like opening. Cowrie shells were the most commonly used shell money in the world.

Yellow Cowrie is a popular accompaniment to many spiritual pooja practices. In Hinduism, Yellow Kaudi is employed to counterbalance the negative influence of Jupiter and the negative influence of Ketu and Raksha. The attractive appearance and texture of these cowries encouraged many to purchase them and use them for jewelry, decorative items, and even ceremonial purposes. Additionally, in ancient times, these cowries were used as a form of payment in many parts of the world.

Kaudi shells, also known as Cowrie or Kaudi, are a type of naturally formed shellfish that are considered to be precious and sacred in Hinduism. These shells are worn as jewelry, or used as ornamental ornaments. In Hinduism, Cowries were collected from the sacred object of samudra manthan, which was Lakshmi, along with other precious and holy products. The yellow Kaudi shell, also known as peeli kowdi or yellow Cowrie shell, is particularly associated with the worship of the deities of Mahala and Vishnu. Additionally, the yellow Kaudi shell is used during the Pooja of the deity Baglampukhi.
